Mrs. Campbell's class voted, and Nora was chosen as our Outstanding Oiler of Caring. Nora is an extraordinarily caring person and it shows in everything that she does. She cares for others deeply by always checking on them when they are in need, offering help in any aspect, and choosing caring words when speaking to others. She is not only caring towards people, she also cares about her work. She puts forth a great effort on her school work and is never careless on how she completes it. Nora is a very generous person, and goes above and beyond for her classmates and teachers. I am so proud of the wonderful young lady she is, and I know without a doubt she will go on to continue to do great things.

I hope this message finds you well. Due to dangerously cold wind chills forecasted for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16, 2024, East Alton #13 will be closed for in-person classes to ensure the safety of our students, teachers, and staff. However, learning will continue remotely as it will be an E-Learning Day. Students are required to log on to their Google Classroom accounts to access and complete their assignments. Teachers will be available via email during regular school hours to provide support and answer any questions. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter. The safety of our school community is our top priority, and we believe that this decision will help ensure the well-being of everyone. Parents/Guardians: Due to the forecasted extremely cold temperatures this weekend, our district will be sending home materials and technology devices for possible use on Tuesday IN THE EVENT we need to call for an e-Learning day. We will monitor the forecast for changes all weekend and will hope to make a decision on Monday. We are sending these items home to prepare for e-learning just in case we aren't able to have students attend Tuesday. It is still possible that Tuesday could be a normal school day. We thank you for your understanding in the best safety for kids.

Reminder: There will be no school on Monday, January 15, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Gracie is Mrs. Naylor and Mrs. Green's Outstanding Oiler of Caring! Gracie has the kindest heart. She is extremely helpful in our classroom. We see Gracie always offering help to other students and politely giving them reminders of our expectations. Gracie enjoys helping students learn and not just SHOWING them how to do something. She cares about her classwork and always does her personal best. We love having Gracie in our classroom, she is so incredibly caring!

Ja’Niyah was chosen as Mrs. Keys’s Outstanding Oiler of Citizenship. In their classroom family, Ja'Niyah is the prime example of how to be a good citizen. She is kind, caring, and a friend to everyone. Ja'Niyah works hard to follow the rules and make our school community a better place. She picks up trash even when it's not hers, helps to organize the classroom by keeping everything in its proper place, and gently guides others to make the right choices. Ja'Niyah is a great citizen to her class, our school, and the community as a whole.

Kolbie is Mrs. Conklin and Mrs. Collins Outstanding Oiler of Caring. Her teachers state she cares about her class family, her classroom, and others. She looks after others when needed. Kolbie takes time to assist with cleaning our classroom. She always has a hug and smile for everyone. --

Harper is Mrs. Darr's Outstanding Oiler of Caring. She is always doing acts of kindness for her classmates, her teacher, and other members of our school. She loves to make beautiful pictures and cards for people, and offers to help classmates and visitors with anything needed. She always offers a hug or a kind word when our classmates are hurt or having a sad day. Harper has such a caring heart and I am proud to nominate her. Keep making the world a more caring place Harper!

Nora is Mrs. Wille's Outstanding Oiler of Caring. Nora shows she cares in every aspect. When someone is hurt she always is willing to help. She is always focused and does her best all throughout the school day. During math, she is always willing to help other students in need. She's really kind and includes everyone.She helps clean up the room every time we’re leaving at the end of the day. We are so proud of you Nora and are so thankful you’re a part of our classroom family.

Liam is Mrs. Booten and Mrs. McBride’s Outstanding Oiler of Caring. They say Liam has the biggest heart of anyone they know! He is always the first to give them a compliment! Liam always asks his friends if they are okay when they fall down or get hurt. He was their first choice for Outstanding Oiler of CARING! Great job, Liam!

Cooper was chosen as Miss Baker’s Outstanding Oiler of Caring because he is always caring for his classmates and other peers. He is always putting others first, helping out others when they are in need, and always making sure his friends are okay. Cooper is always the first one to help a friend when they are sad or hurt. Cooper also is very caring about our classroom and supplies. He always makes sure that everything is put away nicely and that everyone is being kind to our things. We are so proud of you, Cooper!

Aubree's classmates chose her as their Outstanding Oiler of Caring for Mrs. Schranck’s class. Her peers stated that she is a good friend by being there for them when needed, she's a hard worker and cares about her schoolwork, and is respectful and polite to everyone around her. Mrs. Schranck agrees with everything her peers stated! Aubree is an amazing student and Mrs. Schranck is so glad to have her in her classroom this year.

Emma always has a smile on her face. She loves telling everyone hello in the hallway. When one of her classmates is upset, Emma is always concerned about them. Emma helps students and teachers in the class to keep our room nice and tidy. That’s why she is Mrs. Buller’s Outstanding Oiler of Caring.

Gabby was chosen by her peers for Outstanding Oiler of Caring for Mrs. Jones’s class. Gabby is a great friend to all of her peers. Mrs. Jones says she can count on Gabby to help others. Gabby is always kind and respectful. Thank you Gabby for being such a great friend and role model for your classroom. Your teacher and classmates are very proud of you!

Mrs. Luce states she is happy to choose Thomas as our classroom's Outstanding Oiler of Caring! Thomas cares about everyone! He is so incredibly compassionate & sweet to everyone he meets! He demonstrates this not only inside the classroom, but all over Eastwood! Everyone knows Thomas by his caring attitude, and awesome smile! He cares about how everyone is feeling, and if something is "off", he tries to make them feel better! We are all lucky to have Thomas as a student at Eastwood!

Johnny is Ms. Jarden’s classroom Outstanding Oiler of Caring. Johnny is one of the kindest, sweetest, most caring students I have ever had. He cares about his teachers, his classmates, and his school. He always notices when someone is struggling and does everything he can to try and make it better for them. Keep making our classroom, school, and community, a better place by always choosing to be kind!

Liam is Mrs. McCann’s Outstanding Oiler of Caring. Liam is one of the best huggers! He is constantly hugging his teachers and friends to show how much he cares. Liam is full of smiles every day and his smile is contagious to everyone. He always wants those around him to be happy and he does what he can to cheer someone up. Keep being the caring kid you are Liam. We are proud of you!
